London Night Tube reaches 10-year milestone with 67 million journeys

London’s Night Tube and Night Overground services have reached a decade-long milestone, recording more than 67 million passenger journeys since their launch on August 19, 2016. The service is a key component of London’s £139 billion night-time economy, facilitating access to employment, hospitality, and cultural venues.

Transport for London (TfL) reports that demand has grown steadily, with an average of over 81,000 journeys per night. Saturday nights typically see higher ridership than Fridays. Major events have caused significant spikes in usage; for example, an estimated 170,000 journeys were recorded during a FIFA World Cup quarter-final match, and 123,000 journeys occurred during a Friday Halloween period.

Beyond leisure and entertainment, the overnight network supports a workforce of approximately 1.3 million people working in sectors such as healthcare and transport.
