London Piccadilly line faces extensive weekend closures for upgrades

Transport for London (TfL) will carry out a series of upgrades on the Piccadilly line, resulting in multiple service suspensions between late July and August. The line will be fully closed between Cockfosters and Heathrow on the weekend of 1–2 August, with additional closures on 30‑31 July, 3 August, and three‑day periods in mid‑ and late‑August affecting sections near Cockfosters, Uxbridge and Acton Town. Reduced services will operate between Acton Town and Uxbridge, while other Tube lines will also experience minor alterations during the same periods.

Commuters are advised to allow extra travel time, use alternative routes such as the Metropolitan line between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge, and consult TfL travel updates. The disruptions aim to modernise signalling, replace aging trains and improve station facilities, enhancing capacity and reliability for future passengers.
