London police launch murder probe after remains found in Feltham woodland

The Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of human remains in a woodland area in Feltham, south-west London. The remains, believed to belong to a woman aged between 25 and 45, were found by a member of the public near Padstow Walk on the evening of August 12.

The discovery occurred in an area known as The Pits, close to Bedfont Lakes Country Park, after a recent wildfire affected the land. On August 5, the London Fire Brigade responded to a grass fire in the vicinity that damaged approximately two hectares of shrubland.

Following a post-mortem examination on Monday, detectives initiated the murder probe. Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley stated that investigators are working to identify the victim and establish the circumstances of her death. A crime scene is expected to remain in place for several weeks as inquiries continue.
