London Stadium seeks more events to boost competitiveness
London Stadium 185 (LS185), the management company for London Stadium, has applied to Newham Council for planning permission to increase the number of non-sporting events held at the venue. The company seeks to expand the annual limit from ten events to 24, allowing for up to four consecutive concert nights.
Management stated that current restrictions make it difficult to compete with other major London venues like Wembley Stadium and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. LS185 reported losing bids for high-profile artists, including Harry Styles, Bad Bunny, Beyonce, and Jay-Z, due to these limitations.
The proposal includes increasing maximum attendance to 85,000 for eight of the requested 24 event days and relaxing noise restrictions to a consistent 75 decibels. Additionally, the company is seeking to increase the maximum attendance for all sporting events to 62,500.
