London Stock Exchange Group to acquire Octus for $3.5 billion
London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has agreed to acquire Octus, a provider of credit intelligence and data, for $3.535 billion in cash. The deal, financed through external debt, is expected to close in the first half of 2027.
Octus specializes in distressed debt, corporate restructurings, and private lending intelligence. The acquisition aims to expand LSEG’s presence in high-growth private credit markets, complementing its existing fixed income and liquid credit offerings. By integrating Octus’ capabilities, LSEG intends to provide end-to-end data, analytics, and workflow solutions across the entire credit spectrum, from public to private markets.
Financial analysts note the high valuation, which represents approximately 12 times Octus’ projected 2026 revenue. The move is seen as a strategic effort to secure proprietary information that is difficult for general-purpose AI systems to replicate, targeting a strong buyside customer base including hedge funds and alternative investment managers.
