London Theatre August Highlights: Christine Lahti Debuts, New Lockdown‑Trauma Play Opens

Oscar and Emmy winner Christine Lahti made her London stage debut in the autobiographical play The Smile of Her, running at the Marylebone Theatre through August 29. The 76‑year‑old actress said the experience makes her feel seen by British audiences.

At the same time, The Hope Theatre launched a new production titled 2021 Chaos, Lockdown Trauma, and Modern Dating. Written and performed by Emily Farley with director Jamie Wolf, the play examines hook‑up culture and personal trauma from the COVID‑19 lockdowns and is part of the North Sapph‑Fest celebrating queer women and non‑binary voices.
