London transport infrastructure undergoes major structural renewals

Major infrastructure renewal projects are underway across London's transport network to improve safety and structural integrity.

At Tottenham Hale Station, Mainmark UK completed ground improvement works to support the installation of new glass-reinforced polymer platforms. The project addressed stability concerns regarding deteriorating precast concrete platforms by using engineered resin injection to strengthen the ground beneath 77 new foundation locations. This method allowed for rapid completion over a bank holiday weekend without the need for excavation.

Separately, Transport for London (TfL) is launching a major renewal programme for the Brent Cross Interchange, beginning with the A41 Brent Cross Flyover. Funded by £10.8 million from the Department for Transport, the project aims to restore the flyover to full load-bearing capacity and remove a 7.5-tonne weight restriction implemented in 2022. The works, which include structural strengthening and the installation of new waterproofing systems, are expected to last up to two years and will involve traffic measures to manage the flow of the 120,000 vehicles that use the interchange daily.
