London Underground disrupted by power outage

Multiple lines on the London Underground network experienced suspensions and severe delays during the Monday afternoon rush hour due to a power outage. Transport for London (TfL) reported that at least three lines were suspended, while six others faced partial suspensions or significant delays.

The National Grid identified a fault on its transmission network in central London, stating the issue was resolved within seconds. However, the interruption caused widespread disruption, with some central London stations, including Waterloo, facing closures. TfL is currently working with the National Grid to determine the exact cause of the failure.

This incident follows a similar power outage last month caused by a fire at an electrical substation in west London, which led to the temporary closure of Heathrow Airport and raised concerns regarding the United Kingdom’s energy resilience and critical infrastructure security.
