London woman misdiagnosed for 15 years despite organ removals

Amber Williams, a 35-year-old resident of Mitcham, London, has reported that medical professionals ignored her debilitating pain for 15 years, leading to the unnecessary removal of two healthy organs.

Williams stated that her complaints were frequently dismissed as standard menstrual pain or attributed to her weight and mental health. In 2012, her appendix was removed due to suspected appendicitis, and in 2016, her gallbladder was removed for suspected stones. Surgeons later informed her that neither organ had significant issues.

Following years of struggling with infertility, a fertility specialist in 2025 investigated her suspicions of endometriosis. A laparoscopic surgery in July 2026 confirmed extensive endometriosis and adenomyomatosis, with her ovaries adhered to the pelvic wall. Williams has criticized the medical field for underestimating and under-investigating women's health.
