London's Charing Cross and Waterloo East Stations Shut for Three Weeks

London's Charing Cross and Waterloo East railway stations have been closed from 26 July to 16 August as part of a £20 million engineering programme to upgrade track, platforms and the adjoining Hungerford Bridge. The work involves replacing roughly a mile of track, rebuilding platforms at Charing Cross and repairing bridge structures.

During the closure, Southeastern services are being diverted to London Victoria, London Bridge, Blackfriars and Cannon Street, with some trains terminating early at London Bridge. Ticket holders can claim refunds and are advised that many Underground and Thameslink routes, as well as Southern services, will accept tickets for alternative journeys. Additional short‑term closures are scheduled for 22‑23 August and 10‑11 October as part of the same upgrade plan.
