Fashion exhibitions worldwide and shift to structured tailoring dominate 2026 season

Major fashion exhibitions are opening across Europe and the United States in late 2026. Highlights include "The 90s" at the Tate in London (Oct 2026–Feb 2027), "Burberry Trench: Crafting an Icon" at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, "La otra mirada" at Galería Plaza del Gato in Madrid, Iris van Herpen's "Sculpting the Senses" at the Brooklyn Museum, "Many Shades of Grès" at the Staatliche Museen in Berlin, "Costume Art" at the Met in New York, the Helbig Archive at Madrid's Museo del Traje, "The Antwerp Six" at MoMu Antwerp, the "Givenchiaga Family" show at the Museo Cristóbal Balenciaga in Getaria, and a Schiaparelli exhibition at the V&A.

At the same time, international runway shows are moving away from oversized, fluid silhouettes toward sharply structured tailoring for the autumn‑winter 2026 collections. Designers emphasize rigid shoulders, precise cuts, heavy wools and tweeds, and a power‑dressing aesthetic reminiscent of the 1980s, signalling a return to garments that act as a modern “armor” with pronounced architecture.
