Londrina health task force inspects 5,000 properties to combat dengue

The Londrina Municipal Health Secretariat has inspected over 5,000 properties in the city's central region as part of a task force to combat the proliferation of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The initiative aims to reach approximately 6,000 residential and commercial properties.

Of the properties inspected so far, 79 mosquito breeding sites were identified, representing 1.56% of the locations visited. Environmental Surveillance Manager Nino Ribas noted that while the situation does not currently represent an uncontrolled outbreak, the high human traffic in the central area makes any active breeding site a significant epidemiological risk.

Logistical challenges include a 22.5% rate of closed properties, prompting teams to conduct revisits at varying times, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends. Officials warned that recent rainfall has accelerated the hatching of mosquito eggs in containers such as gutters and construction materials.
