Londrina student killed during attempted rape and homicide

Thaissa Gabriely de Oliveira Marques, a 21-year-old nutrition student, was stabbed to death in Londrina, Paraná, following an attempted rape. The victim was working as a promoter for a gym that had not yet opened when she was approached by a 21-year-old man.

According to police investigations, the suspect lured the victim inside the establishment under a pretext before attempting sexual violence. After a struggle, the victim was fatally stabbed. The suspect initially attempted to frame the incident as a robbery, but he was later apprehended and confessed to the crime. He has been charged with qualified homicide and attempted rape.

The incident has caused significant local outcry. The University of Londrina’s Laboratory of Femicide Studies has called for the case to be investigated as a femicide, noting that the attack was driven by gender-based motives and an attempt to exert power over the victim's body.
