Lone Star Mayor Brianna McClain to vacate office

Brianna McClain, the mayor of Lone Star, Texas, is stepping down after missing three consecutive City Council meetings. Under the Texas Local Government Code, missing three consecutive regular meetings results in a formal vacancy of the office unless the absence is due to illness or a formal leave of absence.

McClain cited the difficulty of balancing her professional career and family responsibilities as the reason for her departure. She noted that the demanding schedule was impacting her health and time with her family.

Her departure, combined with another existing vacancy on the Lone Star City Council, will necessitate a special election rather than simple appointments. City officials intend to work with the Morris County elections administrator to establish a budget and a date for the election. McClain has encouraged local residents to run for office, noting that recent elections in the town have been uncontested.
