Lone Wolf gang member Mitchell West arrested at Sydney airport
Mitchell West, a 33-year-old high-ranking member of the Lone Wolf bikie gang, was arrested at Sydney International Airport following a 20-month stay in Bali. The arrest was a coordinated effort involving the NSW Police State Crime Command's Raptor Squad North, the Australian Border Force, and the Australian Federal Police.
West faces multiple charges, including wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, armed robbery causing grievous bodily harm, demanding property with menaces, and two counts of participating in a criminal group. Detectives linked West to several violent incidents, including the alleged extortion of a 57-year-old man in December 2024 and a home invasion in Cardiff in February 2025.
During the February 4 home invasion, three men reportedly forced their way into a residence on Macquarie Road and assaulted a 30-year-old man, causing head injuries. While three individuals have been charged in relation to the invasion, police identified West as a participant before he traveled overseas. West was refused bail and is expected to apply for it in court.
