Long Chau experts discuss community stroke prevention in Vietnam

At the Ho Chi Minh City Stroke Conference 2026, medical experts discussed strategies for community-based stroke prevention and management. The event, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Stroke Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Medical Association, brought together nearly 900 domestic and international medical professionals.

According to the Ministry of Health, Vietnam records more than 200,000 stroke cases annually. Experts noted a concerning trend of increasing stroke cases and a younger demographic being affected, which places significant pressure on the healthcare system and society.

Representatives from the Long Chau Pharmacy and Vaccination System shared practical experiences regarding community prevention models. These initiatives include raising public awareness, assisting in early risk identification, and expanding nationwide stroke screening and free healthcare programs. Dr. Le Thanh Khoi emphasized the importance of screening for silent risk factors such as hypertension and atrial fibrillation to mitigate the disease burden.
