Long Chau introduces new treatment for rare neurofibromatosis in Vietnam

Long Chau Pharmacy and Vaccination System has introduced Selumetinib to the Vietnamese market, providing a new medical breakthrough for treating symptomatic, inoperable plexiform neurofibroma (PN).

PN is a manifestation of Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), a rare genetic disorder caused by a mutation in the NF1 gene on chromosome 17. This condition affects multiple organs, including the skin, nerves, eyes, bones, and cardiovascular system. While many tumors are benign, they can cause chronic pain, physical deformity, and complications. Approximately 30% to 50% of children with NF1 develop plexiform neurofibroma, which carries an estimated 8% to 13% risk of progressing into malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNST).

By making this next-generation treatment available, Vietnam becomes one of the early markets to access this solution, aiming to reduce the burden on patients and families suffering from this rare genetic disease.
