Long Island elections see high spending and heated campaign attacks

Campaign finance reports and political advertisements are highlighting significant spending and intense rhetoric in upcoming Long Island state legislative elections.

In a Nassau County Assembly race, Republican candidate David Hassid has launched attacks against Democratic opponent Kim Keiserman. The Nassau GOP released mailers and social media advertisements accusing Keiserman of “bankrolling” politicians perceived as anti-Israel. The attacks specifically cite Keiserman’s previous donations of $1,000 to Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock and $500 to Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico, both of whom have faced criticism regarding their stances on aid to Israel.

Broader financial data from the New York State Board of Elections shows substantial fundraising across several districts. In the 7th State Senate District, Republican Jake Blumencranz and Democrat Rory Lancman are both maintaining significant campaign funds, with Blumencranz holding $482,000 in the bank. In the 9th District, Democrat Lisa Vider has reported $356,000, notably outspending Republican incumbent Patricia Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick in recent months. Other high-spending contests include the 21st Assembly District and several races in Suffolk County.
