Long Island group filmed entering Wantagh storm drain

Five unidentified individuals were captured on surveillance video entering a storm drain in Wantagh, Long Island, during the early hours of Thursday. The group was seen working together to open a manhole cover at the intersection of Wantagh Avenue and Jerusalem Avenue before descending into the drainage system near several shopping centers.

Nassau County Police responded to reports from witnesses, but investigators were unable to locate the group after searching the sewers. This incident follows a similar occurrence in Manhattan approximately one week prior, when a trio of individuals wearing headlamps was filmed emerging from a manhole near Penn Station and Madison Square Garden.

Local residents have expressed concern regarding the safety and motives of these urban spelunkers, noting the potential dangers of entering the underground drainage networks.
