Long Island woman dies after SUV crashes into swimming pool

A 40-year-old woman died following a vehicle accident in Hewlett, Nassau County, on Long Island. According to police, the driver lost control of her 2023 GMC SUV, striking a tree and a parked vehicle before the SUV plunged into a backyard swimming pool.

Responding officers from the Nassau County Police Department attempted life-saving measures before the woman was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Authorities believe the woman had been removed from the vehicle prior to their arrival at the residence on Elinor Road. The cause of the crash and the cause of death remain under investigation.
