Longerenong College enhances agricultural training and safety
Longerenong College has expanded its practical training capabilities through a new partnership with Emmetts and John Deere. The college recently received a John Deere 6M 140 FEL tractor to assist students in gaining hands-on experience with modern agricultural machinery.
In addition to equipment upgrades, the college is participating in a farm safety initiative. Students were featured in the “Safety Served Sweet” video series, a project supported by Agriculture Victoria and WorkSafe designed to promote safety culture within the agricultural sector.
Agronomy students also presented crop research trial results at the annual Agronomy Field Days to industry representatives from companies including Bayer and BASF. The college continues to offer various essential skill short courses, such as chainsaw maintenance and tractor operations, to both students and the local community.
