Longevity experts prioritize lifestyle habits over expensive biohacks
Medical experts and researchers suggest that traditional lifestyle habits are more effective for longevity than expensive, trendy biohacks. A survey of longevity specialists found that physical activity and nutrient-dense diets were ranked as the most critical factors for aging well, whereas interventions like supplements, wearables, and cold plunges ranked significantly lower.
Experts emphasize that resistance training is essential to combat sarcopenia, the loss of muscle mass that accelerates with age. Maintaining muscle through progressive resistance training supports metabolic health, bone density, and insulin sensitivity.
Dr. Annu Navani, chief medical officer at Le Reve Wellness, notes that while longevity medicine has made progress, the focus should be on adding quality to life rather than simply extending years. She suggests that many high-cost interventions, such as certain peptide injections or unproven supplements like resveratrol, lack conclusive clinical evidence for extending human lifespan. Instead, foundational habits such as consistent sleep schedules and regular exercise offer the most reliable benefits.
