Longwood Lancers defeat Campbell 2-1 in men's soccer
The Longwood Lancers men's soccer team secured a 2-1 road victory against Campbell University at the Eakes Athletics Complex. With this win, Longwood improved to a 4-0 record, marking the first time in the program's Division I history that they have started a season undefeated.
Campbell took an early lead in the 37th minute when Augustus Squillace scored following a corner kick from Xander Martin. Longwood responded in the second half, with Brando Bedolla equalizing via a free kick in the 67th minute. Bedolla, who is tied for the national lead in points, scored his fourth consecutive match.
The decisive goal came in the 78th minute from Joshwa Campbell, assisted by Benjamin Ferrero. The match was highly physical, resulting in 18 fouls for Campbell and 10 for Longwood. Additionally, Campbell's Brendan Lauder received a straight red card in the 73rd minute following a foul on Youssef Shafei, leaving the Camels shorthanded for the final minutes of the game.
