Loose Leaf non-profit addresses community needs in Surrey
Loose Leaf, a youth-led non-profit founded by students from Johnston Heights Secondary, is addressing community needs in Surrey, British Columbia. The organization was established after students observed local issues including food insecurity among peers and a lack of clothing and hygiene products for unhoused individuals.
Since its inception in late 2025, the non-profit has organized several initiatives, such as community dinners in the Guildford area, clothing drives, and backpack distributions for students. The group also hosted a Women’s Empowerment Fair that provided free hair, makeup, clothing, and skincare products. Co-president Kashvi Sheoran noted that the organization aims to foster social connections, particularly for immigrants who may lack local support networks.
