L’Oréal Groupe utilizes reconstructed human skin for ethical testing
L’Oréal Groupe is utilizing reconstructed human skin technology, known as Episkin, to provide an alternative to animal testing for cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. This in vitro method uses real cells to replicate the human epidermis, allowing for precise and ethical safety evaluations.
This technological advancement comes amid shifting regulations regarding animal testing. While Brazil has banned these practices by law as of 2025, legislative discussions regarding similar restrictions are ongoing in Argentina.
