Loran de Munck to replace Jordi Hagenaar at World Gymnastics Championships

Gymnast Loran de Munck will compete in the World Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam after being called up to replace the injured Jordi Hagenaar. Originally designated as a reserve, De Munck was promoted following an ultrasound that revealed Hagenaar's ankle injury, sustained during a vault exercise, was more serious than initially thought.

Coach Dirk van Meldert described the substitution as the “most difficult decision of the day.” De Munck, who expressed mixed emotions regarding the situation, noted that while it is unfortunate for Hagenaar, he is eager to represent the Netherlands on home soil.

The championships are scheduled to begin with qualifying rounds on October 17. The Dutch team also includes Casimir Schmidt, Amine Abaidi, Elijah Faverus, and Jermain Grünberg.
