Lorca and Talavera de la Reina host events for senior citizens

Municipalities in Spain are hosting various events and programs dedicated to senior citizens. In Lorca, the ‘Gala del Mayor 2026’ is scheduled for September 30 at the Carpa del Huerto de la Rueda. The event expects to gather approximately 3,000 elderly residents for a program featuring musical performances, including Mexican music and a tribute to Julio Iglesias, alongside official recognitions for local collaborators.

Simultaneously, Talavera de la Reina is conducting ‘Semana del Mayor’ from September 28 to October 4. This week-long initiative offers free cultural, health, and leisure activities. The program includes excursions, pottery and painting workshops, and physical activities such as Zumba. Additionally, health-focused sessions will be held in collaboration with the Toledo Medical College to promote healthy habits and safety awareness among the elderly population.
