Lorca declares agriculture and livestock a strategic sector

The Lorca City Council, led by a coalition of the People's Party (PP) and VOX, is set to debate a motion declaring agriculture and livestock as strategic sectors of general interest. The initiative aims to provide economic support through tax incentives and a more streamlined licensing process to reduce bureaucracy for primary sector producers.

In addition to administrative reforms, the council is proposing to rename the Integrated Center for Agricultural Training and Experiences (CIFEA) after Zacarías Salazar Mouliaa. Salazar Mouliaa was an agronomist who contributed to the modernization of Lorca's agriculture and livestock, including research into native breeds such as the Murcian chicken and the Chato Murciano.

The motion also serves as a political challenge to the central government regarding water management issues, specifically the Tajo-Segura water transfer and administrative complexities related to the PEPAC.
