Lord Alli returns to Labour Party to lead business fundraising

Lord Alli, the television executive at the center of a previous donation scandal involving Sir Keir Starmer, is returning to support the Labour Party. Under the direction of Andy Burnham, Alli is expected to help rebuild connections with the business community and raise funds for the party.

As part of this effort, Alli is scheduled to host a dinner for business leaders during the Labour party conference in Liverpool. This move comes as the party seeks to replenish its coffers following strained relations with business leaders due to increases in employers' National Insurance.

Alli previously faced scrutiny after providing expensive gifts to several high-profile figures, including Keir Starmer, Angela Rayner, and Rachel Reeves. He also faced accusations of cronyism regarding the issuance of a temporary Downing Street security pass despite holding no official government role.
