Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel marks 40 years of onsite brewing

The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel in The Rocks, Sydney, is celebrating 40 years of onsite brewing this October. While the historic pub was established in 1841, its brewing operations began in 1986. The decision to brew in-house was reportedly born of necessity after a group of sailors depleted the pub's stock days before the next scheduled delivery.

General Manager and Licensee Kristian Savio noted that the milestone is significant for both the venue and the history of boutique brewing in Australia. The microbrewery continues to produce traditional, unfiltered, and unpasteurised English-style ales using malt, hops, yeast, and water. To maintain its specific flavor profile and identity, the brewery still sources imported English grains and hops.
