Prime Video unveiled the first teaser for the third season of *The Rings of Power* at San Diego Comic‑Con, confirming a worldwide premiere on 11 November 2026. The trailer shows a darker Middle‑earth as Sauron (Charlie Vickers) begins forging the One Ring, and introduces the early Nazgûl (Nazgnagôl) servants of the Dark Lord. Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay said the season will be “more dark, more dangerous” and will feature a five‑year time jump that thrusts the story into the full‑scale War of the Elves and Sauron.
New cast members include Jamie Campbell Bower as Celeborn, Zubin Varla as Khamûl the Eastern, Eddie Marsan as Thrain and other additions such as Andrew Richardson and Adam Young. The series, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, has already attracted over 185 million viewers worldwide and ranks among Prime Video’s biggest original hits. After mixed reactions to the first two seasons, the third installment promises higher stakes, larger battles and the long‑awaited forging of the One Ring.
The production cost for the whole franchise exceeds $1 billion, with $250 million paid for Tolkien’s estate rights and a comparable amount spent on the first season’s shoot. The new season aims to deliver the most ambitious visual sequence ever attempted for the show, according to McKay, who noted, “the sequence is the most technically complex we’ve ever done.”
