Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum film slated for Dec 2027 release

The new "Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum" movie is scheduled to open on 17 December 2027. Set before the events of "The Fellowship of the Ring," the story follows Gandalf’s secret mission, assigning Aragorn to locate Gollum, who holds critical knowledge about the One Ring’s whereabouts.

The production will bring back several original cast members, including Andy Serkis as Gollum, Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins, and Lee Pace as Thranduil. The returning actors aim to link the prequel narrative with Peter Jackson’s well‑known trilogies and deepen the lore for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s world.
