L'Oréal reports 6% Q2 sales growth as haircare boom fuels Europe and North America

L'Oréal announced that sales for the quarter ending June reached €11.6 billion, a 6.3% increase on an adjusted like‑for‑like basis, slightly above analysts' expectation of 5.7% growth. The rise was driven by strong demand for new hair‑care products and mascaras, a trend the CEO described as the “lipstick effect”. European sales grew 6.7% and North‑American sales 5.9% on the same adjusted basis. The company's Luxe division posted a 4.7% increase despite double‑digit growth in China, while ongoing difficulties in China's travel‑retail market limited overall performance. Dermatological Beauty saw an 11.1% rise and Professional Products a 10.1% gain; consumer products grew 4.6% and Luxe 4.7%. Operating margins hit 21.3% in the first half. L'Oréal’s shares are up about 4% year‑to‑date. The group also reported total first‑half sales of €23.78 billion, with notable acceleration in India where growth reached 13.8% on strong hair‑care and skin‑care demand.
