Lorena nominated for 2026 Ballon d'Or best goalkeeper award

The Ballon d'Or organizers have announced the 30 nominees for the 2026 women's award. Brazilian goalkeeper Lorena, who plays for Kansas City, has been named as one of the five finalists for the best goalkeeper category.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for October 26 in London, marking a move from Paris, where the event has been held since 2019. The relocation to London serves to honor Stanley Matthews, the first Ballon d'Or winner in 1956.

Lorena's nomination follows a strong season where she recorded 12 clean sheets and made at least 58 important saves. Brazil's national team coach, Arthur Elias, praised her dedication and talent following the announcement.
