Lorena Villaverde faces new embargo over Las Grutas land sales

The Judiciary of Río Negro has issued a new preventive embargo against national deputy Lorena Villaverde, representing La Libertad Avanza. The measure, ordered by Judge Cristian Tau Anzoátegui, amounts to approximately $29,970.

The legal action stems from a civil lawsuit involving alleged irregularities in the sale and delivery of land within the Tajamar real estate development located in Las Grutas. The embargo is a precautionary measure intended to safeguard potential outcomes of the ongoing litigation and does not constitute a final conviction or ruling on the merits of the case.

This is not the first time Villaverde has faced such measures. Previous judicial orders include an embargo on her parliamentary salary and bonuses totaling roughly 40 million pesos in December, as well as other preventive measures in March and earlier in the year related to the same or similar real estate developments.

Villaverde has stated that she was not personally notified of the recent decision, learning of it through media reports. She has denied the allegations and characterized the legal and media attention as a form of institutional and political violence.
