Lorent Tolaj transfers to Bristol City from Plymouth Argyle
Swiss striker Lorent Tolaj, 24, who scored 21 league goals in 35 appearances for Plymouth Argyle last season, has moved to Championship side Bristol City on a four‑year contract. The transfer fee was undisclosed but reported to be over £4 million, making him the club’s seventh signing of the summer window. Tolaj will wear the No. 9 shirt at Ashton Gate.
Plymouth Argyle director of football Derek Adams praised the deal as “excellent business,” noting the club sold the player for significantly more than it paid. The Pilgrims now face a gap in attack and will look for a replacement as they prepare for the new season. Tolaj said he is happy at his new club, describing Bristol City as a “great club with a great fanbase” and pledging to “give everything” for the team.
Tolaj’s career has risen quickly, moving from the National League with Aldershot Town, where he scored 25 goals, to the Championship in just a few years. He joins a Bristol City side that has already begun pre‑season training and recent friendly matches.
