Lorenzo Mark Finn takes yellow jersey at Tour de l’Avenir
Lorenzo Mark Finn, the 19-year-old Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe Rookies rider, has taken the lead in the Tour de l’Avenir 2026 after a dominant performance in the fifth stage. Finn won the 11.4-kilometer climbing time trial from Les Carroz to Flaine with a time of 25:47, finishing 34 seconds ahead of Ugo Fabries and 58 seconds ahead of the previous general classification leader, Niels Driesen.
With this victory, Finn has claimed the yellow jersey and also leads the youth and climber classifications. He currently holds a 58-second advantage over Driesen and a 1-minute 36-second lead over Kasper Haugland. The competition now moves toward the queen stage, a 149-kilometer route from Châtillon-sur-Cluses to the Col de l’Iseran, which is expected to be a decisive factor in the final standings.
Earlier in the race, riders from Groupama-FDJ United, including Soan Ruesche, were active in breakaway attempts during flatter stages, though they were unable to secure a stage win before the race entered the high mountains.
