Lorenzo Mark Finn wins 2026 Tour de l’Avenir

Nineteen-year-old Italian cyclist Lorenzo Mark Finn has won the 2026 Tour de l’Avenir, marking the first time an Italian has claimed the prestigious youth race title in 53 years. Representing the Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe Rookies, Finn secured the overall victory and the yellow jersey after a dominant performance, including a solo victory in the final stage at Lago Serrù.

Finn’s victory completes an extraordinary season, as he also won the Giro Next Gen and the Under 23 World Championship. By winning both the Giro Next Gen and the Tour de l’Avenir in the same year, he becomes the first rider to achieve this feat since Gianbattista Baronchelli in 1973.

In addition to the general classification, Finn secured the climber and youth classifications. Cordiano Dagnoni, president of the Italian Cycling Federation, praised the achievement as a technically significant milestone for Italian cycling, noting that the nation's youth movement is currently performing at the top of the UCI rankings.
