Lorenzo Martino explores Sicilian myth through art
Lorenzo Martino, an artist from Messina known by the pseudonym Valdemone, uses drawing to explore the intersection of reality, fantasy, and Sicilian culture. Influenced by his father, painter Giosè Martino, his work draws heavily from the myths and history of the Strait of Messina.
Martino’s background includes studying architecture in Ferrara and training at the Scuola del Fumetto in Milan. His artistic output includes illustrations for Mesogea, such as the work ‘Colapesce’ based on the text by Ignazio Buttitta, which reinterprets legendary figures through visual storytelling.
