Lorenzo Musetti returns to Washington ATP 500 as Italian squad heads to new tournaments

Italian tennis star Lorenzo Musetti will make his comeback at the ATP 500 event in Washington, entering the draw as the third seed. After a season plagued by a femur injury, a leg strain and a right‑arm problem that forced him out of Roland Garros and several other tournaments, Musetti has resumed training and split with coach José Perlas. In Washington he meets fellow Italian Matteo Arnaldi in the first round, guaranteeing an Italian presence beyond the second round.

The Italian contingent also includes Luciano Darderi, who will be the second seed at the ATP 250 Mifel Tennis Open in Los Cabos, Mexico, starting directly in the round of 16 thanks to a first‑round bye. The upcoming clay‑court events in Los Cabos and Washington mark the start of the season’s hard‑court swing for Italy’s top men’s players.
