Lorestan cultural heritage and tourism development highlighted
Iranian Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, Reza Salehi-Amiri, has highlighted the significant cultural and natural potential of the Lorestan province. During a visit to Aligudarz, the Minister described the region as a “civilizational pole” with a long history and emphasized its potential for tourism development due to its numerous waterfalls and historical sites. He noted that the government is prepared to support investments to improve tourism infrastructure, including the development of hotels and local handicraft markets.
In Borujerd, Ata Hassanpour, the Director General of Cultural Heritage for Lorestan, discussed ongoing efforts to pursue UNESCO world heritage status for several important files. He highlighted the city’s unique historical urban maps and its distinctive “Takiyeh-Bagh” gardens, which serve both recreational and religious purposes. Efforts are also being made to preserve the architectural heritage of historical neighborhoods and traditional houses that characterize the region.
