Loreto improves municipal water supply and service coverage
Loreto Mayor Paz del Alma Ochoa Amador announced improvements to the municipal water supply system, noting that water flow has increased from 75–80 liters per second to between 100 and 110 liters per second. This increase has improved pressure and expanded coverage, resulting in approximately 400 new service contracts and a reduced reliance on water trucks.
Ochoa Amador acknowledged that the increased pressure has led to more leaks due to an aging network that requires renovation. To address this, the administration plans to maintain the first two to three kilometers of the aqueduct from the San Juan Londó wells this year.
As OOMSAPAL now operates as a decentralized organism, the mayor emphasized that the system's sustainability depends on user participation and timely payments. The administration will begin identifying users with debts exceeding ten months to address revenue needs for continued infrastructure improvements.
