Loreto transport unions announce 48-hour strike over diesel prices

Transport unions in Loreto, Peru, have announced a 48-hour strike scheduled for Monday and Tuesday in response to rising diesel prices. The protest involves river transport workers, truck drivers, and various transport guilds.

Representatives from the Association of Shipowners and Affiliates of Loreto, the Association of Truckers and Machinery, and the national drivers' coordinator stated that the fuel price hikes are directly impacting their income and increasing the costs of goods and services. They have called for the government to establish a decentralized working group and requested that ministers visit the region to address the situation.

Protesters plan to gather at the Plaza 28 de Julio, emphasizing that the demonstration will be peaceful, though they warned of further measures if a rapid response is not received.
