Loris Capirossi to be named MotoGP Legend at Misano

Italian rider Loris Capirossi will be officially inducted as a ‘MotoGP Legend’ during a special ceremony this Saturday at the Misano Grand Prix. The honor recognizes his competitive successes and his long-term contributions to the sport.

Capirossi’s career includes two 125cc world titles in 1990 and 1991, and a 250cc world title in 1998. He later transitioned to the premier class, securing a 500cc victory in 1996 and competing through the transition to the four-stroke MotoGP era.

A significant chapter of his career involved riding for Ducati, where he secured the brand’s first-ever MotoGP victory with the Desmosedici at Catalunya in 2003. He remains one of only two riders, alongside Casey Stoner, to win on an 800cc Ducati. His professional racing career concluded in 2011.
