Lorna Henstridge, Australia’s oldest woman, has died in Bordertown, South Australia, at the age of 112. Her death was confirmed by her family following a weeks-long battle with pneumonia.

Born in June 1914, Henstridge lived through significant historical milestones, including two world wars, two global pandemics, the Great Depression, and the leadership of 26 Australian prime ministers. Her longevity was independently validated by the Gerontology Research Group in 2024.

Henstridge attributed her long life to staying active through sports, daily walks, and social engagement. She remained highly social in her later years, frequently meeting friends for coffee and following the Adelaide Crows. She is survived by nine great-grandchildren.
