Loro Piana inaugurates new knitwear excellence center in Ghemme
Loro Piana, the LVMH-owned luxury fashion house, has inaugurated a new excellence center dedicated to shaped knitwear in Ghemme, Italy. Spanning 8,000 square meters, the facility represents the brand's most significant industrial operation to date.
The center is designed to centralize the entire production cycle within a single building, addressing historical fragmentation in manufacturing processes. The facility integrates everything from initial modeling and yarn design to weaving, garment assembly, finishing, and final ironing. This vertical integration aims to consolidate expertise and ensure quality control across all stages of production.
Beyond manufacturing, the complex serves as a hub for heritage and education. It includes an educational and exhibition area for visitors and experts, alongside a corporate museum. To ensure the preservation of specialized artisanal skills, the site also houses an academy of trades, a dedicated project designed to train new workers in the 59 different specialized roles essential to high-end textile production.
