Lorsch police conduct heavy goods vehicle inspections on A67

Police freight transport specialists conducted inspections on 26 trucks at the Lorsch-Ost and Lorsch-West rest areas on the A67 motorway. The operation, which took place between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, resulted in 21 vehicles and drivers being found in violation of legal regulations.

Authorities identified 18 violations regarding driver rest and driving times, along with several instances of improperly secured cargo. Consequently, administrative proceedings were initiated against various drivers and freight forwarders. In six instances, drivers were required to pay nearly 6,000 euros in bail because they could not provide proof of a permanent residence in Germany. One freight company was fined 1,650 euros on-site for gaining an illegal competitive advantage through its transport methods.

In four cases, the violations were severe enough to prohibit further travel. This included a timber truck that lacked sufficient securing straps and anti-slip mats, and a heavy transport vehicle weighing 110 tons that was operating without adequate permits and improper cargo securing.
