Lorton man arrested for community center vandalism in Ghostface costume

A 22-year-old Lorton man, Zion Gibbs, has been arrested following a series of vandalism incidents at a homeowners community center in Lorton, Virginia. Detectives from the Fairfax County Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division apprehended Gibbs after a surveillance operation on August 17.

Between July 9 and August 17, a masked suspect committed six separate acts of destruction of property, causing approximately $8,000 in damages. During these incidents, the suspect used rocks, hammers, and cinder blocks to break windows. Surveillance footage identified the suspect wearing a “Scream” style Ghostface mask and robe, along with fluorescent gloves and white shoes with fluorescent laces.

Officers observed Gibbs in the area wearing the costume and carrying bricks before he ran toward the community center. Gibbs was taken into custody and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He faces charges including three felony counts of destruction of property, three misdemeanor counts of destruction of property, and wearing a mask in public. He is currently being held without bond.
