Los Angeles Angels dismiss GM Perry Minasian amid ongoing team struggles

The Los Angeles Angels announced the firing of general manager Perry Minasian, ending his six‑year tenure. The move came a few weeks before the MLB draft and the trade deadline, with the club still languishing at the bottom of the American League West and approaching an 11‑year streak of losing seasons.

Under Minasian the Angels compiled a 392‑500 record (.439) and failed to break a playoff drought that began in 2014. Critics highlighted several key missteps, including the decision not to trade star Shohei Ohtani at the 2023 deadline and a 2021 draft in which all 20 picks were used on pitchers, yielding only a handful of major‑league contributors.
