Angels hit 100 losses as Mariners overhaul coaching staff
The Los Angeles Angels concluded their 2026 season by becoming the first MLB franchise to reach 100 losses in a single season. The loss to the Seattle Mariners marks the team's 11th consecutive season finishing below .500 and their 12th consecutive year missing the postseason.
Despite the historic struggles, the franchise is undergoing a major transition. Longtime owner Arte Moreno has agreed to sell a majority stake in the team to Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, led by Stan Kroenke, in a deal valued at approximately $4 billion. The sale is expected to finalize in early 2027.
In Seattle, the Mariners have announced significant coaching changes following a season that saw them finish 10 games under .500. Manager Dan Wilson will not return for the 2027 season, and the team is also parting ways with bench coach Manny Acta, infield coach Perry Hill, hitting coach Kevin Seitzer, and first-base coach Eric Young Jr. Mariners majority owner John Stanton has expressed a commitment to winning and has cautioned fans against calls to sell the team.
